About the Journal

1. Aims & Scope

The Journal for Global Negotiation is an international peer-reviewed journal that examines the broad field of global negotiation. The journal welcomes high-quality manuscripts by scholars and practitioners at all stages of their career that examine how negotiation can address issues of global concern to build a more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world. The journal also welcomes reflections on and analyses of negotiations with a global resonance or related to issues of global concern.

The journal is committed to an interdisciplinary, international, and intergenerational approach creating a welcoming space for innovative perspectives from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.

2. The Publisher and the Vision

The Publisher of the Journal for Global Negotiation is the Institute for Global Negotiation (IGN), an independent non-profit association aimed at improving the understanding of the nature and processes of global negotiation among academics, practitioners, and students.

The IGN’s Journal for Global Negotiation envisions building a robust network that fosters the exchange of ideas, encourages collaboration and understanding across different cultures, fields, and professions. Through this network, the aim is to establish a platform where researchers and practitioners can share and discuss their research and first-hand experiences of negotiation, contributing to a richer collective knowledge.

3. Publication Schedule and Open Access

The Journal for Global Negotiation publishes one issue every year.

The Journal is diamond open access, thus it does not charge publication fees and accepted articles are made freely accessible and discoverable through internet search. In particular, articles accepted by our Journal receive a unique digital object identifier (DOI), which ensures their unambiguous identification by databases, search engines, as well as any other researcher.

Figures submitted in color are published in color in the online version of the journal at no cost. If authors wish to have color figures in the printed version, fees will be determined in production.

4. Publication Ethics

The Journal is committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity in its published content as well as in its publication process. To ensure this, the Journal follows the international standards for editors and authors as proposed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The Journal pursues COPE guidelines in cases where misconduct is suspected or alleged.

4.1. Use of Artificial Intelligence

  • The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the preparation or creation of the Work is permitted as long as the Author discloses the specific extent of AI involvement, specifying which parts of the Work were aided or generated by AI.
  • The Author must disclose AI’s contributions as part of an author agreement between the author and the Journal.
  • The Author must ensure and declare that despite the use of AI, the ideas and materials presented are original and novel, contributing new knowledge or perspectives to the field.

4.2. Originality of the Work and Use of Secondary Sources

  • The Author warrants that the submitted work is original, has not been published before (except as part of a thesis, conference proceeding, or similar project), and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The Author agrees to adhere to ethical citation practices, ensuring that all secondary sources, data, and quotations from other authors are accurately and appropriately credited according to academic standards.
  • The Author also warrants that the work does not contain any material that infringes on any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights of any third party, and that all co-authors have agreed to the submission and have authorized the corresponding author to act on their behalf.
